MSV De Prikkedam Makkinga

MSV De Prikkedam has been running motocross in Makkinga for 75 years; the club dates the circuit itself to 1946. The main track is a sand layout of 1,509 metres in length and almost 10 metres wide, with 14 jumps, a chicane and several demanding corners, plus an easier youth track for children on bikes up to 85cc. Training runs on Wednesdays and Sundays. In winter, from 1 October to 1 April, the track is open on Wednesday from 13:30 to 18:00 with training from 14:00 to 17:00; in summer from 15:30 to 20:00 with training from 16:00 to 19:00. On Sunday it is open year-round from 09:00 to 14:00 with training from 09:30 to 12:30. Riders are split into separate groups for 65/85cc, inexperienced and experienced. Access requires a KNMV basic sports licence; the club explicitly does not accept MON licences for training, registration runs through the club online entry portal, and a day pass is available for a first visit. Facilities include a canteen with a covered terrace, showers, toilets, parking and MyLaps timing. A race scheduled for 5 July was cancelled by the club because of pending proceedings at the Raad van State. A sand course almost ten metres wide with 14 jumps means plenty of lines and, as the morning goes on, ever deeper ruts that you launch out of. For deep sand, top of our cause list is a rear rebound that is too fast, because it lets the rear pogo instead of supporting itself.
