MC Flying Boetoe Joure

M.C. Flying Boetoe runs the De Polderbosk training site at Polderboskdyk 37 in Joure. Two facilities sit side by side there: a cross circuit of 1.5 kilometres and a sand oval. That split carries over to the licences, because the club requires the Basis Sportlicentie Motocross for the cross circuit and the Basis Sportlicentie Baansport for the sand oval; without a KNMV licence there is no training. Non-members buy their day pass digitally before arrival rather than at the gate. For children aged 5 to 14, MX Junior runs every Wednesday afternoon from 15:15 on bikes up to 85cc, with beginners starting on the middle part of the site and in the sand while more advanced riders use the cross layout. The club stages races at regional and national level, including youth and junior sand races and an open Frisian championship; at events adults pay 5 euro admission and under-18s go in free. Over an afternoon, 1.5 kilometres of sand cuts deep ruts, and switching between the cross layout and the sand oval loads the rear in quite different ways. For deep sand, top of our cause list is a rear rebound that is too fast: it makes the rear pogo instead of supporting itself cleanly in the sand. Slow the rear rebound before you ride your first longer session.
