Track details
Dry sand gets deep and physical - the front wants to knife in; traction comes from throttle and the rear suspension.
Damp sand hooks up and gets faster - more grip, but heavier, blunt braking zones.

- 1,300 m
The course sits at Mimizan airfield in the Landes and is run by Moto-Club de la cote d'argent under president Jean-Louis Arenas. The mxcircuit.fr directory gives the lap as 1,300 metres long and 6 metres wide, a man-made layout in earth and sand, with a dedicated FMX track right next to it. It opens on Wednesday afternoons and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 7pm; on the other weekdays access is arranged by phone. A day costs 10 euros, an FFM or UFOLEP licence is mandatory, and motorcycles and quads are permitted. Earth with a sand content behaves unevenly over a day: where the sand dominates, the line digs out and goes deep, and from then on the rear stops following and starts hopping and swimming under power. Top of our cause list for that is rebound that is too fast for sand - slow it down, fewer clicks out, so the rear stops pogoing.
