Circuit Georges Filhol - Lacapelle-Marival

The Circuit Georges Filhol sits on the Terrain de Bel Air on the D48 department road at Lacapelle-Marival in the Lot. It is run by the local moto club, founded in 1953 by Georges Filhol and still carrying his name. The site covers roughly eleven hectares and is fully fenced; the club gives the course as about 1700 metres long and between eight and twelve metres wide. The Grand-Figeac local authority describes the ground as sandy and rideable in any weather. On site there are showers, sanitary facilities, a power supply and a wash bay; quads and sidecars are admitted on request, and the Bois de Sophie campsite lies about 500 metres away. The track hosts major events: in 2023 the opening round of the French Elite championship ran here with more than 200 riders, alongside an international motocross meeting and rounds of the 24MX Tour. The club publishes no fixed practice times, fees or licence rules. Sandy ground over a lap of this length means the ruts get deeper as the day goes on, the rear hunts for grip on corner exit and starts building a rhythm in the waves. When the rear pogos and swims in deep sand, our most common cause is a rebound set too fast - slow it down so the rear stays calm underneath you.
