MC Koala (Trofarello)

The Le Dune circuit at Trofarello, south of Turin, is run by Motoclub Koala; the track directory mxcenter.it lists it on Strada Sabbioni. The lap measures 2000 metres over a mix of dirt and sand and is registered as a category 3 track with FMI and AICS homologation. According to the directory it is open every day from 09:00 until sunset, with an explicit note to make contact before setting off because times can change without warning. The site has a bar, cold and hot showers and 220 volt outlets, plus a separate minicross area. There is no floodlighting, so a riding day ends with daylight. The directory gives no figure for fees. The name Le Dune - the dunes - tells you what to expect: sand-dominated ground does not hold a line, the rut deepens through the day, and the rear wheel works constantly against a surface that moves out from under the tyre. When the rear starts to pogo and swim in deep sand, top of our cause list is rebound that is too fast for sand - slow it down so the rear stops building up a rhythm of its own.
