Wakes Colne near Colchester in Essex sits on the Little Loveney Hall estate and is the home track of Halstead & District Motorcycle Club. The club reworks the circuit over the winter months and hosts rounds of the ACU Eastern Centre Championship as well as the British sidecarcross championship there. On a typical race day practice starts around 10:00 and the races follow from roughly 10:30, 12:00 and 14:30 - times the organiser itself gives as approximate. A club track that only runs on event days demands different preparation from an open practice venue. You may get three short races and no second chance at the jump you do not know. Use the morning practice to learn rather than to set a time. On loam with jumps and tight sections one thing annoys riders above all: the front knifes into the rut and oversteers away from you. Top of our cause list is a fork that is too soft, dives too deep and folds in the rut - add compression before you start rearranging your riding position.
