VIP Motocross (Crick)

Two minutes from junction 18 of the M1, at Crick Lodge Farm: VIP Motocross is the kind of place you need to prepare nothing for. There is no booking - you arrive, sign on and ride. Three tracks are available: the main circuit, a kids' track and a PW auto track; autos, 65s, 85s and full-size bikes are all welcome. It opens Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 16:00 and is closed on weekdays. Jumps and berms shape the layout, and there is catering and a spares trader in the paddock. No booking also means no guaranteed slot and no fixed group split. Expect company on a fine weekend and ride your first laps defensively until you know who else is out there - on an open practice track, everyone else's pace is the most important feature of the circuit. The classic setup problem on a jump-heavy track: the rear kicks on take-off. First entry on our cause list is shock rebound - it returns too fast, so slow it until the rear stays calm on the face.
