Two loops, two entirely different jobs: Conquest Valley Motorsport near Houghton Conquest in Bedfordshire runs a 2.5 km motocross track in a natural valley and, beside it, a 5.7 km natural enduro loop through thick woodland. The MX track runs in sessions with separate groups for beginners, intermediates and experts; the enduro loop is not sessioned but ridden open. On the documented MX-and-enduro days sign-on opens at 08:30, riding starts at 10:00, and there is a minimum age of 15. Booking is by text message with your full name and rider class - turn up unannounced and you have no slot. Plan your day around that difference. The sessioned track gives you short fixed blocks and demands pace immediately; on the woodland loop you set your own. If you ride both in one day, do not mistake the enduro loop for a warm-up - 5.7 km of woods costs more energy than three MX sessions. On loam the most common problem is the front knifing into the rut and oversteering. Top of our cause list is a fork set too soft: it dives too deep and folds away - add compression.
