The motocross track at Balm bei Günsberg has held a permit since 1986 and counts among the more demanding circuits in Switzerland. Practice runs three times a week - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 16:30 to 20:00, for 20 francs; one of the three sessions is explicitly a reduced-noise session. That detail is not a footnote at Balm, it is the defining factor. For decades, depending on the wind, residents in Balm, Niederwil and Riedholz have complained about the noise; the municipality and the landowner are looking for solutions, and the latest proposal on the table was to permit combustion engines only at slow riding speed. In practice that means: stick to the times and to the sound limit. Breaking them does not cost you, it costs the track - and there are not many of those left in the region. The circuit is well stocked with jumps, and there everyone meets the same thing: the rear kicks off the lip instead of following through. First on our cause list is rear rebound returning too fast - take clicks out of the equation and slow it down.
