Track details
Dry sand gets deep and physical - the front wants to knife in; traction comes from throttle and the rear suspension.
Damp sand hooks up and gets faster - more grip, but heavier, blunt braking zones.

1770 metres of sandy loam, built from 2006 onwards by Jeffrey and Adam Hopkinson - father and son - and entering its twentieth racing season in 2026: that is Thornwood on Stone Hill Road in Williamstown, Oswego County. The layout carries many jumps, built-up bowl berms, a whoops section, a split section and, by the operators' own account, the state's only under-over tunnel jump. A separate 50cc practice track sits alongside for the youngest riders, and the course is deliberately built for every skill level. The whoops section is the test here, not the tunnel. Ride it standing and on steady throttle; shut off in the middle because it gets busy and you lose the time not in the whoops but in the corner after them. What catches nearly everyone on sandy ground: the rear pogos and swims. First on our cause list is rebound that is too fast at the rear - fewer clicks out, and the back end stops working itself up.
Track condition today
