Track details
Dry sand gets deep and physical - the front wants to knife in; traction comes from throttle and the rear suspension.
Damp sand hooks up and gets faster - more grip, but heavier, blunt braking zones.
Right off US 131 near Martin, two tracks sit side by side on barely 47 acres. The main track runs over a mile with about 22 turns, several table tops, a stadium triple and a whoops section; the soil is described as loamy and pulls deep ruts as the day goes on. The completely rebuilt junior track next to it is hard-packed and full of turns, built so children learn lines rather than jumps. The site was rebuilt by new owners - it is the former home of One 30 One MXGP. Gates are open Wednesday 15:00 to 20:00, Saturday 10:00 to 15:00 and Sunday 11:00 to 16:00, admission is 5 dollars per person and the rider fee 40 dollars on the main track, 25 on the junior track. There is no camping on site, and motorcycles only are allowed on track. With 22 turns in a mile and a half, almost every straight is just a connector. If you are looking for time here you will not find it in the triple but in how early you get back on the gas out of the berm. The problem on jump faces: the bike kicks and bucks instead of leaving cleanly. First on our cause list is rebound that returns too fast and launches the rear off the face - slow it down, which means fewer clicks out.
