Terrain de Saint-Valery-en-Caux

On the D53 between Neville and Saint-Valery-en-Caux, on the Route de Neuville, lies the track of Moto Club Saint Valery Motocross. It runs 1900 metres at only five metres wide on natural earth and chalk, with a supercross area on the same site; bikes, quads, dirt and pit bikes and sidecars are all permitted. The club is organised through the Ligue Motocycliste de Normandie and counted 114 FFM licence holders in 2022. Riding is on Sundays and public holidays from 14:00 to 19:00, with Wednesdays reserved for members; the day rate is 10 euros and an FFM licence is mandatory. One curiosity from the club's history: in 2004 France's first backflip on a mini XR70 was landed here. Five metres of width across 1900 metres means a lot of track and very little room to move aside. Passing here is something you set up across a whole section, not something you do under braking. What firm chalk ground brings first: the front feels vague and finds little grip. Top of our cause list is too much front tyre pressure - lower it, the contact patch grows and the front starts talking to you again.
