Body position in corners (MX)

Motocross · intermediate · cornering

Good motocross cornering starts with sitting forward. Slide up onto the tank so your weight is over the front wheel - that's what makes the front bite instead of washing out. Put your outside elbow up, weight the outside peg, and stick your inside leg forward toward the front axle for balance, not down at the ground. Lean the bike more than your body and look through the corner to the exit. As you reach the apex, start feeding smooth throttle and let the bike stand up and drive out. The two big mistakes are sitting too far back (front washes) and dropping your elbow (you lose leverage and control). Forward, elbow up, eyes up.

A starting point to verify on the bike - not a safety guarantee. Change one thing at a time and check on track.
