Ring Knutstorp

Ring Knutstorp is near Kagerod in Skane and is run by Ring Knutstorp AB; by its own account the facility has been operating since 1963 and was already a testing ground in the 1950s - the operator names Ronnie Peterson, Reine Wisell and Alain Prost among the drivers who ran here. Besides the circuit the site holds a skid pad, an off-road course, pit garages, cabins, a restaurant and conference rooms, plus driver risk training and an upper secondary school with vehicle programmes. The Danish track day guide puts the lap at 2079 metres with eight right-hand and five left-hand turns, a road width of 10 to 12 metres, run clockwise, with only about 100 metres of main straight to breathe on. The result is a tight, undulating circuit where the corners follow each other so closely that, as the guide puts it, there is barely room for a mistake - you take on more turn-in points per minute than on any long lap, and you notice immediately when the machine does not bite. If it will not hold a tight line and runs wide over the front, top of our cause list is too little rear ride height: lazy geometry turns in late, so raise the rear or drop the front and the front wheel will grip earlier.
