Polcanto

The Crossodromo Polcanto near Borgo San Lorenzo in the Mugello is closed. The local news site Il Filo writes that Bruno Comanducci built the venue in 1968 and sold it to the Italian motorcycling federation FMI in the mid-1980s, which ran it as its second federal technical centre. Mauro Zecchi managed it from 2000 for a good twenty years and, by his own account, put 460,000 euros into it. It shut in 2021 after roughly 54 years: the race homologation had lapsed two years earlier, and the federation put the site up for sale at 930,000 euros instead of funding the work it needed - no buyer came forward. In April 2026 the same site reported that mayor Leonardo Romagnoli had confirmed the planning situation is in order and the licence was never revoked, so a reopening now rests with the federation alone. The mxcenter.it directory still lists the track at 1700 metres with a bar, a cold shower and a minicross area - a record from its operating years. That leaves nothing current to say about how it rides: reports describe the muddy, loamy ground as the defining feature of the layout, but without maintenance a track changes fundamentally within a few years. Do not plan Polcanto as a riding day; wait for a decision from the federation before you even consider the drive.
