Controlling the bike off jump faces
Motocross · intermediate · jumping
Most "the bike kicked me" moments start on the takeoff, not in the air. Meet the face in the attack position with your weight evenly balanced, and let the suspension follow the ramp - load, then release. Set your attitude with the throttle: a steady, light roll keeps the bike level; chopping the throttle at the face drops the front; a firm stab lifts it. Absorb the takeoff actively with your legs instead of locking rigid - a stiff body only amplifies the kick as the rebound extends. Always look at the landing, not the lip. If the bike keeps bucking despite clean technique, your rear rebound is probably returning too fast - slow it a click or two (add damping, turn the clicker in).
A starting point to verify on the bike - not a safety guarantee. Change one thing at a time and check on track.
