Motocross Volx

MC Volx Villeneuve runs the track at Volx in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence; the president is Michel Icard, listed by MX Circuit with a mobile number as the contact. The course is 1800 metres long and 6 metres wide, and the directory names naturally grown, clay-rich earth as the surface. It opens on the second and fourth weekend of each month, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 18:00. An FFM licence is required and a riding day costs 10 euros. Motorcycles, dirt bikes and pit bikes are permitted. Alongside the MX circuit there is a children's track, and a riding school is available on site through TMX Evolution. Clay ground in Provence dries out quickly and then turns hard and slippery, while after rain it leaves the ruts standing with a sharp edge. On a six-metre width that rut is usually the only fast line left. Our records hold a technical character, so plenty of direction changes and little recovery. In exactly those ruts, a front wheel that knifes in and oversteers sits top of our cause list: the fork rides too deep and folds away - add a little compression up front rather than correcting it through the bars.
