On the edge of the D74 at Fontaine-au-Pire in the Cambresis lies a natural layout on topsoil, run by the club Passion TT under president Rafael Coenen. The opening hours are generous for a club facility: Wednesday and Thursday from 13:00 to 18:00, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. The day rate is 7 euros, riding requires an FFM or UFOLEP licence, and the track is pure motocross - motorcycles only, no quads. If you have a weekday free, take the Wednesday. Four opening days a week is the exception in this corner of France, and an afternoon with half as many riders out there is worth more than a full Sunday. On loamy ground the thing that makes the layout technical forms quickly: ruts. And with them comes the problem that catches almost everyone - the front knifes and oversteers. Top of our cause list is the fork: it dives too deep and folds away in the rut. Add compression before you start doubting your riding.
