MIR Racing Villena Circuit

The MIR Racing Villena Circuit sits on the Villena to Yecla road at kilometre 1.2 in the province of Alicante, a good half hour by car from Alicante and reachable directly off the A-31; parking is free. The operator gives the track length as 1,500 metres and describes the site as a multipurpose course for karts and motorcycles with live timing and a display screen. Rentals cover junior karts of 160 cubic centimetres from age eight, karts of 270 cubic centimetres from age 14, plus pit bikes and MiniGP machines; on top of that there are open sessions, races, corporate and private events and a restaurant. Helmet, suit, gloves and protective gear are mandatory, rental equipment is available on site, and a safety briefing comes before you ride. On 1,500 metres of kart circuit the corners come one after another, the lap is ridden through direction changes rather than top speed, and every tenth is decided on turn-in. If the bike will not hold a tight line there and runs wide, top of our cause list is too little rear ride height - it makes the steering lazy. Raise the rear or drop the front and the machine will tip in more willingly.
