Circuit Ricardo Tormo

Circuit Ricardo Tormo lies in Cheste near Valencia, right on the A3 Valencia-Madrid motorway at exit 334. Wikipedia dates the opening to 19 September 1999; the venue is named after two-time motorcycle world champion Ricardo Tormo, who died of leukaemia in 1998. The main track measures 4.005 kilometres with 14 turns, the longest straight is 876 metres and it runs clockwise. There is also an outer variant of 3.136 kilometres with eleven turns and a school circuit of 1.300 kilometres with seven turns; spectator capacity is given as 165,000, of which 125,000 are seated. The operator's calendar lists the Comunitat Valenciana MotoGP round, the Spanish ESBK championship, the FIM MotoJunior World Championship and car endurance races; the circuit hosted the Superbike World Championship from 2000 to 2010, the touring car world championship from 2005 to 2012, and a Formula E round in 2021. A motorsport high-performance training centre is part of the site. Fees and conditions for open track days are not publicly documented. Our records hold a tight, technical character, and the layout backs that up: 14 turns leave almost no rest between braking points, and the bike has to be turned in again and again. Top of our cause list, when a bike will not hold the tight line here, is a front end sitting too high. More fork protrusion through the triple clamps sharpens the geometry and shortens the turn-in.
