Circuit de la Versenne

The Circuit de la Versenne lies at Villars-sous-Ecot in the Doubs and is one of France's historic motorsport venues. According to the French-language Wikipedia it started as a pure motocross track; the Moto Club de Villars then built a supermotard course next to it, which hosted rounds of the Supermotard World Championship in 2006 and 2007. The motocross history of the site goes back to 1982, when a 500cc World Championship round was held here; the 250cc class followed in 1986, the Motocross des Nations in 1988 in front of 35,000 spectators, a Sidecar World Championship round in 1994 and the 250cc class again in 1998. MXGP and MX2 rounds were added in 2015, 2017 and 2023. The source says nothing about opening times, fees or access rules for open riding - so do not expect to turn up and ride on the spur of the moment. Our record has the circuit at around 1,580 metres of asphalt and classes it as technical: on a supermotard layout the lap time is made in the hairpins, not on the straight. If the bike will not hold a tight line and runs wide mid-corner, too little rear ride height is top of our cause list - raise the rear or drop the front to sharpen turn-in.
