An hour's drive north of Sacramento, on North Beale Road in Marysville, lie 80 acres along the north bank of the Yuba River. Locals used to call the place Shad Pad; today E-Street MX runs two courses there - the main track for all capacities and a back track limited to 85cc two-strokes or 150cc four-strokes. The ground is a loamy-sandy mix, watered and groomed throughout the day; the layout threads through trees and lives on plenty of berms plus small and large jumps. It runs Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 14:00, cash at the gate, a waiver required from everyone, and camping possible on Saturday nights. Training camps run with Jeff Pestana and MXClinic. One house rule is worth a thought: minis are allowed on the main track once per hour. Use that as structure - one focused hour on the small layout, then a deliberate session on the big course, instead of drifting back and forth. In worn ruts what usually follows is this: the front knifes and oversteers. Top of our cause list is a fork that is too soft and rides too deep - add compression.
