RES Axel (Smitsschorre)

RES Axel runs the Smitsschorre at Lageweg 4 in Axel, Zeeland; the club's postal address is Kinderdijk 4. The season runs from 1 April to 31 October. Training is on Wednesdays from 13.00 to 20.00 and Saturdays from 13.00 to 18.00, split into fixed blocks starting at 13.00, 14.15, 15.30 and 17.00; on Wednesday evenings Youth MX ZVL reserves two short windows for itself. Beginners and children get their own quarter-hour blocks. Access requires a valid KNMV basic sport licence or a MON pass; Belgian riders need an MCLB or VMCF licence plus a MON day pass. Booking is done in advance through the MotoInside app and is non-refundable. The calendar is busy: 2026 brings eight Clubcross rounds, plus KNMV ONK rounds for sidecars and quads, two- and three-hour endurance races and training sessions for MXGP and EMX riders. Our record lists a track length of 1750 metres. A sand course of that length in constant use goes deep, and the rear is the first thing to get restless: it comes back too quickly after a hit and builds up over the swells. Top of our cause list for that is rebound that is too fast for sand: slow it down so the rear wheel works in the ground instead of pogoing.
