At the foot of the Montagne Noire, right next to the Saint-Ferreol reservoir, Moto-Club du Lac runs its Centre de Pilotage: a naturally routed circuit on hard ground, plus dirt and pit bike sections and a children's track. The window is narrow - the 2nd Sunday of the month, 10 am to 5:30 pm, 10 euros, FFM licence. Slotting in a spontaneous weekend does not work here; you plan around that one date. Hard ground forgives nothing coarse. If you normally ride soft dirt, the adjustment is mostly mental: brake earlier, less steering input, smoother throttle. The grip is there - it just does not come to you. The problem that finds you first on this surface: the front feels vague, with no clear feedback. Top of our list is too much air pressure at the front - lower it, the contact patch grows, and the front wheel starts talking again.
