The Circuit du Montou sits on the Cami del Montou near Corbere-les-Cabanes in the Pyrenees-Orientales, close to the D615, and is run by Moto-Club ASM Corbere-les-Cabanes; the contact according to the track directory mxcircuit.fr is president Jean-Pierre Tirado. The directory lists the course at 1600 metres, a natural layout on stony earth. It opens on the third Sunday of each month, a day costs 15 euros and an FFM licence is required; motorcycles only are permitted. The directory records nothing about coaching, facilities or a kids track, and no operator site is publicly findable. Stony earth carries hard and offers little for a tyre to key into; we additionally have this course on file as technical and off-camber. On the cambers and in flat corners without a berm, the only thing that matters is whether the front bites at all or washes away over the front wheel. Top of our cause list for that is a fork set too firm or riding too high, which never builds front grip - take a few clicks of compression out so it settles into the stroke and the front hooks up.
