Motocross Le Porge

You can only ride this track on Sundays - and not at all in July and August. The Moto Club Porgeais circuit near Le Porge in the Gironde opens Sundays 11 am to 5 pm, exclusively for riders holding a current FFM licence; proof is required. A day costs 10 euros, the annual card 50, and the club arranges the licence itself through its president. The lap is 1600 metres long and 5 metres wide, the ground is black sandy soil, and the site is prepared and homologated. Five metres of width on sand is narrow. Passing does not happen side by side here but out of the corner exit, and if you get it wrong in the deep part there is no second line to escape into. Ride the first laps deliberately wider until you know where the sand sits - and plan around the summer closure, or you will arrive in August to a locked gate. What to expect on sand: the rear pogos and swims instead of driving. Top of our cause list is rear rebound that is too fast for sand - slow it down or the rear packs up over the waves. Low-speed compression comes next.
