The sand track La Pignada sits on the Route de Cazaux in La Teste-de-Buch on the Bassin d'Arcachon and is run by the Moto Club du Pignada. mxcircuit.fr gives the course as 1200 metres long and 6 to 7 metres wide, with sand as the ground. It opens seven days a week through the summer, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 14:00 to 18:00 for the rest of the year. A day costs 10 euros, or 5 euros for club members; an FFM licence is required. Alongside the MX track there is a dedicated children's track, and the operator also rents out quads. Motorcycles and quads are allowed. Sand takes speed out of the bike constantly and forces you to stay on the throttle; the ruts move over the day, and the rear works against the soft ground the whole time. That is exactly where the rear wheel starts to pogo and swims instead of driving. Top of our cause list for that is rebound that is too fast at the rear - slow it by a few clicks so the rear stays in the ground after it compresses.
