The track sits in the Foret Domaniale de Quint off the D538 near Crest and is run by Moto-Club Crestois. The French track directory mxcircuit.fr lists it at 2000 metres long and 6 metres wide, on natural ground of earth and clay. Riding is on the first and third Sunday of each month from 10:00 to 17:00, and the site stays closed through July and August. A day is listed at 10 euros and an FFM licence is required. Quads and sidecars are allowed alongside solo bikes, so a session day here is a more mixed field than on a bikes-only circuit. With only two Sundays a month and the summer break, the number of usable dates per year is limited. Clay dries into a hard, glazed surface and gets cut deep by the fast groups over the course of a day: what was a flat line in the morning is a rut with an edge by the afternoon. That is where the front end decides whether you hold the line or get carried out of it. On clay, top of our cause list is the front knifing and oversteering in the rut, and the strongest cause behind it is a fork sitting too soft and riding too deep - add a few clicks of compression before you touch anything else on the bike.
