Motocross Beaumont-sur-Leze (Lasplagne)

The track in the Lasplagne hamlet near Beaumont-sur-Leze, south of Toulouse, is run by Moto-Club Beaumont - Lasplagne; the track directory mxcircuit.fr lists a Mr Rebouil as president. The same directory gives the course as 1650 metres long and 8 metres wide, laid out over two levels, on a soil it describes as chalky clay plus the local Boulbene gravel. Riding happens on the second Sunday of each month, moved to the fourth if the weather ruins it - 13:30 to 17:30 in winter, 13:30 to 18:30 in summer. A day costs 8 euros and a UFOLEP licence is required. There are toilets with a shower on site and a riding school for children aged 6 to 12; alongside the MX course there is a kids track. Chalky clay behaves very differently across a day: while it is damp you get plenty of grip and deep ruts, once it dries the surface firms up and the gravel works its way to the top. On a course we have on file as technical and off-camber, the front end then decides your lap. Top of our cause list for a front wheel that knifes into a rut and oversteers is a fork set too soft: it rides too low and folds in the rut - add compression before you touch anything else.
