Twice a month, four hours at a time: Mauvaisin on the D91a south of Toulouse is a small, honest club track, and Moto-Club Aignes Mauvaisin makes no secret of it. A thousand metres long, six metres wide, with the ground described as a mixture of loose and hard earth - both in one lap, which over a single kilometre becomes obvious very quickly. Open on the 1st and 4th Sunday from 2 to 6 pm, eight euros a day, UFOLEP licence. A short lap is the best training ground there is, if you use it properly: you see the same corner several dozen times in four hours. Take one corner and work it through instead of collecting laps. The surface we hold for Mauvaisin is clay - and with it comes the usual problem: the front knifes and oversteers in the rut. Top of our causes is a fork riding too deep and therefore folding in. More compression at the front, and the front wheel stays where you put it.
