Riverfront MX Park sits on Biz Johnson Drive in Marysville, right on the Feather River and just under an hour north of Sacramento. It is run by REP Racing, and the layout is clear: a main track for all ages and skill levels, a peewee track to start on, and a vet and quad track at the back. Everything is watered and groomed, the ground is loamy with sand in it. The operator advertises safely built jumps and tacky dirt rather than spectacular faces - and night riding: Tuesday and Thursday from 17:00 to 22:00, Sunday from 8:00 to 13:00, so you can dodge the summer heat and the working day. If you ride in the evening, remember that ground moisture rises after sunset. The line that was dusty at 18:00 hooks up again by 21:00 - plan for it instead of being surprised by shifted braking points. That is exactly when this problem surfaces on jump faces: the bike kicks and bucks instead of leaving cleanly. Top of our cause list is rear rebound - it returns too fast and launches the rear; slow it down, fewer clicks out.
