Long, jump-heavy and hilly: the track at Kronborgvej 6A in 7490 Aulum runs over noticeably more metres than you would expect from a club venue, and several of the jumps launch straight off a hill. Riding is on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with times shifting through the season. On an ordinary Tuesday afternoon a good 30 riders are in the paddock, from first-timers to regulars - operator Jens Peter describes the place explicitly as somewhere to try things out, and the annual DMU track inspection is obtained even though the venue does not appear on the official list. You pay on site, and there is plenty of parking space. The hills are where time gets lost here: on the climb the rear spins up and loses traction. At the very top of our cause list is too much rear tyre pressure - drop it and the contact patch grows, so the tyre finds grip where it was only scrabbling before. With a mousse that costs you nothing anyway.
