Wild Rose Motocross

Wild Rose Motocross is run by the Wild Rose Motocross Association, a registered not-for-profit that manages the site on Calgary municipal land. The entrance is at the north end of Burbank Road SE. Across 88 acres the association lists three full sized tracks, three mini tracks plus an enduro and trials park. Practice hours change with the season: from March through April on weekdays from 4PM to dusk, Fridays from 2PM to dusk and weekends from 10AM to 6PM; in summer Tuesday to Friday from 4PM to 9PM and weekends from 10AM to 6PM; from 1 October Tuesday to Friday from 2PM to dusk and weekends again from 10AM to 6PM. In winter riding is weekends only, on studded tires in the snow. Day passes cost 10 CAD for peewee, 25 CAD for mini and 35 CAD for full size machines; five-ride prepaid cards cost 100 CAD for mini and 140 CAD for full size and never expire. Annual memberships run between 62.50 and 600 CAD depending on age and family category and drop to half price after 15 July. The association states it runs over 15 events a year, among them pro MX nationals and the Tuesday Night Mini Moto series. Our record lists a firm, hard-packed surface with jumps and technical sections. On hardpack the front often feels vague because the tire puts too little rubber on the ground; where that shows up, top of our cause list is too much front tire pressure - lower it so the contact patch grows.
