Varazze - Andrea Timossi

The Andrea Timossi circuit sits above Varazze in the province of Savona, in the Rocca Guardiola area on Via Bricco di Forche. mxcenter.it names Team MX Racing as the operator and lists the track at 1300 metres on an earth surface, homologated by FMI, UISP and AICS; there is a bar, a cold shower and a minicross track, but no hot shower, no 220 V sockets and no floodlights. It opens all year apart from bad weather, on Thursday afternoons and all day Saturday and Sunday; in July and August that shifts to Thursday from 16 to 21, with Saturday arranged by phone and Sunday dropped. The portal SVD Online describes the approach from Celle Ligure: a good seven kilometres uphill towards Sanda, right at the Bric delle Forche junction and on to the end of the paved road, with walking pace required through the hamlet next to it. Besides motocross the track takes minicross, quads, pit bikes and sidecar cross; the same source says it is maintained by its owner Andrea Parodi, a former regional champion. That source calls the circuit very technical, with constant ups and downs and soft ground free of stones. In exactly those tight technical sections the most common cause of a stalling engine, on our list, is the drive side: a dragging clutch or a flywheel that is too light. A flywheel weight or a cleanly set up clutch keeps the engine alive at low revs.
