MSC Gerstungen

MSC Gerstungen e.V. has run a site of around 20 hectares in the Weihetal near Gerstungen, close to the Hessian border, since 1969. The main track is about 1,500 metres long and 4 to 6 metres wide; the ground is a firm, grippy clay-sand mix. The layout includes steep climbs and descents, long fast curves and jumps, among them a 20 metre and a 10 metre table. Motocross and enduro bikes, quads and sidecars are all permitted. The season runs from April to November. Guest practice is possible on Saturdays and Sundays from 9.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., midweek by arrangement. The club lists fees of 5 euros for bikes up to 80cc and 10 euros from 125cc, plus 5 euros day insurance; the 300 metre children's track for machines up to 65cc costs 3 to 5 euros depending on engine size. A workshop, a wash bay and a canteen are on site. Firm clay gives you plenty of grip but forgives little: you arrive at the jump faces carrying speed, and a 20 metre table is decided exactly where the suspension extends. If the bike throws you forward or bucks off the face, the top entry on our cause list is rebound returning too fast and launching the rear off the lip. Slow it down, fewer clicks out.
