Dry loam is the ideal case: grippy, forms lines and forgives mistakes.
After rain loam turns heavy and sticky - knobs pack up and the bike feels noticeably heavier.

MotoWest on SW Old Clifton Road near Port Orchard has been open to the public since the summer of 2015 - about 100 acres on the Kitsap Peninsula west of Seattle, advertised as the home of Ryan Villopoto. The course measures roughly a mile, the ground is mostly loose with firmer patches and is watered and groomed; there is a starting gate, small and large jumps, berms right around the lap and shaded stretches. It runs Tuesdays and at weekends, hours vary, so call ahead. Payment at the gate is cash only, and passes are otherwise sold at nearby Brothers Powersports. Quads, UTVs and registered 4x4s stay out; camping and alcohol are not allowed on site. A one-mile lap is short enough to force repetition. Use it: pick a single corner and ride it twenty times deliberately differently instead of counting laps. On long courses you never get that frequency. On jump faces the likeliest complaint here is this: the bike kicks instead of leaving cleanly. First on our cause list is rear rebound - it returns too fast and fires the rear up off the face; slow it down.
Track condition today
