The Malagrotta motocross track lies on Via Prati Madonna on the western edge of Rome and is run by Eur Malagrotta according to the track directory mxcenter.it. You reach it from the Via Aurelia, Malagrotta exit, then along Via di Valle Bruciata. The lap measures 1780 metres over medium-hard ground; the venue is registered as a category 2 track with FMI homologation, a step above the usual practice tracks. It opens on Thursday and Saturday from 14:00 and on Sunday from 09:00, and the directory asks riders to make contact beforehand. On site there is a bar, 220 volt outlets and a minicross area; showers and floodlighting are missing. The directory names no fees. Medium-hard ground gives the tyre less to bite into than a loose surface: the line stays where it is put, but front grip comes almost entirely from the contact patch. When the front feels vague on hardpack and you get no feedback as you turn in, top of our cause list is too much front tyre pressure - lower it so the tyre puts more rubber on the ground.
