Kartbahn MSC-Ipf Bopfingen

The kart circuit of Motorsportclub-IPF-Bopfingen e.V. im ADAC is called the Breitwangbahn and sits south-west of Bopfingen on the Ostalb. The club states 1020 metres of length and a width of 7 to 12 metres, plus a 160-metre straight and a banked curve with 10 percent overhang on a 2 percent gradient. Supermotos run on Fridays from 13:00 to 18:00; the club lists the dates individually and some Fridays are skipped. Karts and supermotos share the track in separate groups, alternating. The club explicitly does not require advance registration, so you can turn up spontaneously. There is no kart rental, you bring your own vehicle. The site also has a kart service workshop and a traffic practice area; events held here include the Stuttgart ADAC Kart Cup and a Mini Bike Cup. A kart circuit with a banked curve and many fast radii forces narrow, precise lines: you are leaned over almost constantly, and what you lose on corner entry you will not get back on a short straight. The most common problem is a bike that will not hold a tight line and drifts wide. Top of our cause list is too little rear ride height: raise the rear, or drop the front, and the bike turns in noticeably sharper.
