Allgäuer Hallenkartbahn Kaufbeuren

The Allgaeuer Hallenkartbahn in Kaufbeuren is run by Allgaeuer Hallenkartbahn GmbH and is not only a kart track: the operator lists it as a DMSB-licensed indoor circuit for two-wheelers and runs supermoto, pitbike, minibike and pocketbike sessions there. The two-wheel session costs 35 euros per rider on their own machine according to the operator, and no registration is required for it. Two-stroke engines are not permitted for supermoto. Pitbikes are described as 90 to 220cc with a 116 to 125cm wheelbase and 12-inch rims, minibikes from 100cc with a 105 to 115cm wheelbase, and pocketbikes at no more than 110 by 50 by 50cm. A leather suit, helmet, gloves, motorcycle boots and non-sparking knee sliders are mandatory, as are two working brakes, a kill switch, covered metal parts and a noise limit of 98 dB. Fuel is sold on site, the operator quoting 20 euros for a 5-litre canister and 85 euros for a 25-litre one. At the time of research the two-wheel page was flagged as being on a summer break; karting runs alongside without booking and starts at 10,00 euros. Our own record holds roughly 450 metres of asphalt and a tight, technical character. A kart hall is tight and has no run-off: you ride short radii back to back, the asphalt is smooth, and the bike has to turn in faster than an off-road setup intends. That is exactly where understeer shows up - the bike will not hold the tight line. Top of our cause list is a front that sits too high, or geometry that is simply too lazy: more fork protrusion for sharper turn-in. Take that as a starting point and bed yourself in before you adjust anything further.
