Kari Motor Speedway

Kari Motor Speedway is at Chettipalayam near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The name goes back to S. Karivardhan, who designed and built entry-level race cars and previously ran an ultralight aircraft manufacturing operation on the site; the land served as a runway for power gliders before that and hosted drag racing events in the late 1990s. Former racer B. Vijay Kumar bought the property in 2002 to build a track for national motorsport events, and it was inaugurated in 2003. The operator, Kari Motors in Coimbatore, today lists a 2.3 kilometre main circuit with 16 turns plus a karting circuit and points to 22 years of operation. Track days are booked online: an open track day slot starts at 5,000 rupees according to the operator and covers a session of 15 to 30 minutes shared with other participants, a Joy Drive lap is offered from 550 rupees, and exclusive bookings for groups and companies are possible. The circuit holds FIA Grade 4 status and hosts national kart, motorcycle and formula championships, and since 2024 the Indian Racing League and F4 India. With that corner density over a short distance the braking and turn-in points sit so close together that you barely get time to settle the bike between two corners - it rides closer to a kart track than to a Grand Prix layout. When the front will not take the corner and pushes wide over the front wheel, top of our cause list is a front that sits too high and geometry that is therefore too lazy: more fork protrusion through the triple clamps sharpens turn-in.
