Track details
Dry sand gets deep and physical - the front wants to knife in; traction comes from throttle and the rear suspension.
Damp sand hooks up and gets faster - more grip, but heavier, blunt braking zones.
FatCat Moto Parc sits on Holmewood Lane in Armthorpe near Doncaster and is run by FatCat Moto-Parc Ltd. The operator states that the site carries endurocross, supercross and motocross circuits, and that three separate motocross tracks let riders be split by ability. Two tracks are open for practice on a regular basis; the race track is used for practice only occasionally. The venue caters for riders from five years old up to adults. For pit bikes and go-karts the price page lists 35 pounds per rider; full track hire costs 600 pounds for one to fifteen riders and 35 pounds per rider beyond that, with adults required to wear high-visibility vests. The Moto Track Guide directory gives weekends and Wednesdays as opening days and lists toilets, a food van, a large pit area, a shop and visitor parking. No track length is publicly documented. The defining feature is the deep sand, which the directory turns into a benchmark: ride FatCat and you can ride anywhere. Our record adds a technical layout with jumps. Deep sand works against the rear above all - it pogos and swims instead of tracking the line. Top of our cause list for that is a rebound setting too fast for sand: slow it down so the rear does not spring straight back up after it extends.
