Desertmartin

Desertmartin sits on Rectory Road near Magherafelt in County Londonderry. Moto Track Guide names Cookstown and District Motocross Club as the operator and describes a sand-based, GP-spec circuit with plenty of big jumps that is kept prepared to a high standard. It is open at weekends and on Wednesdays, with the explicit note to check the dates before you set off. On site there are toilets, a catering van, a pit area and visitor parking. Track length and riding fees are not publicly documented. Sand costs you energy and punishes a hurried suspension setup: the rear works constantly in the loose surface, and after every jump landing it looks for its line again. If the rear starts pogoing and swimming in the deep stuff, top of our cause list is a rebound that is too fast - slow it down so the rear stops building itself up.
