The motocross course at Parcmotor Castellolí was the venue's first circuit back in 2002, and it is still measured like a race track: 1,600 metres long, 10 metres wide, 12 jumps, 8 right-hand and 11 left-hand corners. Automatic irrigation covers the whole course, backed by a 4,000 square metre asphalt paddock and a bike wash. Marshals and an ambulance are on site during sessions. Riding runs from 10am to 2pm at 20 euros per session, but which days are open is something you have to ask in advance - the course shares the site with the road circuit and an off-road area, and the schedule shifts. A layout with 19 corners in 1.6 kilometres leaves you little rest and plenty of clutch work. That is exactly where the problem that catches almost everyone in tight technical sections comes from: the engine stalls. Our first cause is the drivetrain side - a dragging clutch or a flywheel that is too light. A flywheel weight or a properly set-up clutch pack takes the low-rpm stalling out.
