What makes Les Tourneix near Saint-Maur unusual is not any single course but how many there are: two motocross tracks, a supercross layout with restricted access, a sand course for 65cc machines and pit bikes, three pit-bike layouts, four enduro loops and a quad special all sit side by side. The main MX circuit measures 1960 metres at six metres wide on earth and clay. Moto Club Castelroussin was founded on 11 May 1981 by Denis Schwok, later moved to Les Tourneix and inaugurated the motocross track on 17 May 1987; three qualified instructors run the riding school. It opens on the first and third Sunday of the month from 9:00 to 19:00, and daily from 1 July to 31 August. A day costs 10 euros, an annual membership pass 50. With that many layouts in one place the biggest risk is not crashing, it is distraction. Pick one track for the day and leave the rest alone - otherwise you go home having seen seven courses and learned none. What catches you on jump faces: the bike bucks and kicks instead of leaving cleanly. First on our cause list is rear rebound - it returns too fast and launches the rear; slow it down.
