Castiglione del Lago - Gioiella

The motocross track in the hamlet of Gioiella near Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno is run by Moto Club Trasimeno G. Capecchi, one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in Italy, founded in 1908. According to the club, the facility is open for training on Wednesdays and Saturdays and stays closed in July and August because the ground cannot be sensibly maintained in those months. The track was rebuilt over roughly six months and reopened in June 2023; according to mxreport.it the direction was reversed from clockwise to counter-clockwise, the layout was reworked with riders Andrea and Max Bartolini consulting, and the result was homologated by the FIM. The municipality of Castiglione del Lago supplied materials for fencing and the irrigation system. On the opening weekend (10 and 11 June 2023) riding ran Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00, admitting riders with a valid FIM licence and current medical certification. A round of the Tuscan championship followed on 18 June 2023. Our own record lists a loam surface and roughly 1,570 metres of length. A compact, freshly rebuilt track with irrigation and soft ground means grippy ruts, clearly shaped jump faces and little room to rest between sections. Because the direction was reversed, older knowledge of the layout only helps you so far - treat your first laps as reconnaissance. If the bike kicks you off the jump faces or bucks the rear up, top of our cause list is this: rebound returns too fast and launches the rear off the face - slow it down (fewer clicks out).
