Canada Heights

Canada Heights is on Button Street in Swanley, Kent, and belongs to Sidcup and District Motor Cycle Club. The club states that it has used the ground since 1952 and bought the land in 1985 with the support of a Sports Council grant; the high ground took its name in the First World War, when a large Canadian contingent was camped there. Events held here are motocross, trials, hare and hounds, long distance trials and enduro, plus the club's own motocross championship over several rounds. For facilities the club lists toilets at all events, water from standpipes at the larger meetings, camping space and catering from a regular caterer. The final approach runs down Button Street with blind bends, and the club asks explicitly that you drive slowly; it gives the postcode as BR8 8DZ, with another half mile to travel. According to the Moto Track Guide directory the venue is a regular stop on the British motocross championship tour, sits in hillside woods and is used for racing rather than being regularly open for practice. Our record holds a hardpack surface and a character of jumps, off-camber and technical sections. What matters most about this track is therefore not the setup but the access: a weekend here is usually a race date, not an open practice day. The one action to take from that: check with the club before you travel whether anyone is riding on the day you want - otherwise the drive to Swanley ends at a closed gate.
