Buddh International Circuit

The Buddh International Circuit sits in Jaypee Sports City at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is owned by the Jaypee Group and operated by Jaypee Sports International Limited. Hermann Tilke designed it, it opened on 18 October 2011, and the build cost is given as 2,000 crore rupees. The Grand Prix layout measures 5.125 kilometres with 16 corners, the motorcycle layout 5.010 kilometres with 13 corners. The surface is documented as asphalt concrete with graywacke aggregate. The Formula One Indian Grand Prix ran here in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and the Indian MotoGP round in 2023; the grandstands hold 110,000 spectators. The FIA Grade 1 licence expired in November 2022, and since then smaller national series such as the JK Tyre National Racing Championship plus track days carry the operation. The circuit is not flat: it climbs fourteen metres across the first three corners, and gradients of up to eight percent downhill and ten percent uphill are documented. Together with the long, fast sections that means the bike goes light more than once at top speed and gets no free stability from the layout.
