Autódromo do Estoril

The Circuito do Estoril, officially the Autodromo Fernanda Pires da Silva, sits at Alcabideche in the district of Cascais and is run by CE - Circuito Estoril, S.A. It opened on 17 June 1972; the Grand Prix layout is 4.182 kilometres long, has 14 corners and a start/finish straight of 0.986 kilometres. Formula 1 raced here from 1984 to 1996, MotoGP from 2000 to 2012, and World Superbike has visited repeatedly. The current calendar is dominated by rounds of the Portuguese national speed championship, the CNV. Two things you need to know: in early August 2025 the operator removed motorcycle track days from its list of admitted events, citing noise, and Bancada A has been closed since 24 April 2025 with no announced reopening date. The circuit sits on a rocky plateau, the maximum gradient is close to 7 percent, there are two hairpins, and the wind can be strong - teams used Estoril for winter testing for years. After the near-kilometre straight you reach the braking zone carrying a lot of speed, and if the bike starts to weave there, top of our cause list is a ride-height balance with the rear sitting too high.
