Shanghai International Circuit in the Jiading district opened on 6 June 2004, according to Wikipedia, was laid out by circuit designer Hermann Tilke and cost around 2.6 billion yuan. It is owned by the Shanghai Jiushi Group with 92 per cent and Shanghai International Automobile City with 8 per cent, and operated by Shanghai International Circuit Co., Ltd. The Grand Prix layout is 5.451 kilometres long with 16 corners, and a 1.2 kilometre straight runs between turns 13 and 14. The shape of the track follows the Chinese character 上, the first character in the city's name; the site was built on swampy former rice paddy, and the grandstands hold 200,000 spectators. Motorcycles are no novelty here: the motorcycle Grand Prix ran from 2005 to 2008, and Valentino Rossi holds the lap record from that era with a 1:59.273 set in 2008. The asphalt was resurfaced ahead of the 2025 Grand Prix. The source says nothing about track days, fees or access rules. The long straight and the fast corner sequences mean you spend a lot of the lap at high speed - and that is exactly where you notice first if the bike's balance is off: it feels vague through a fast sweeper instead of holding the line you give it. Top of our cause list for that is the ride-height and sag relationship. Before you touch compression or rebound, set the sag properly first.
