Senkvice, half an hour northeast of Bratislava, has been riding motocross since 1962, when the local auto-moto club formed and started building the track in the Cerova valley. The venue's biggest day is 13 and 14 May 2000: a European Championship round for the 125s in front of nearly 15,000 spectators. Today it hosts rounds of the Slovak championship. The ground is loam, turning to clay on some of the climbs, with rocks in the back section; it is ploughed and watered before riding. Open practice runs Tuesdays from 15:00 to 19:00. That rocky back section is why you do not turn up here on a worn rear tyre. A pinch on rock costs you more than the new tyre would have. Freshly ploughed loam cuts deep ruts, and then what always happens there happens: the front knifes in and oversteers. For us the fork comes first - it dives too deep and folds away in the rut. More compression keeps it up in the stroke.
